After my recent blog post received so much support, I decided to send it via email to each Tennessee state representative and senator. That’s over 100 folks, folks! Along with the link to the blog, I offered my help to make a change with this Testing Beast in Tennessee.
Guess how many responded? Three. Of those, only two responded with meaningful words: Joe Pitts and Bryan Terry. Ok…ok…it has only been a week. Maybe they need more time! Good for you, in personally contacting the state representatives and senators directly. I’ve done the same thing in the past, and it is an enormous undertaking, especially for an individual who is not a paid lobbyist or a salaried member of a large organization. It shows individuals can make a difference. One noisy individual is worth a thousand votes in the booths, especially when the message is one of “back off.”
Unfortunately for people like me, legislatures don’t seem to know how to repeal legislation. They only know how to amend it or to add more, further complicating an already ensnarled situation.
